A lot has happened since the last time I posted. Sherwood is well on its way, the stones are on site and there is an overhauled version of my website. The stones were to be set this weekend but weather (rain?) prevented it so they will attempt to do it this week in time (we hope) for the party and dedication next Saturday.

Next Saturday! That is going to be a busy day for me as Middlefaire opens and I was already committed to be there when Eric set the date for the gathering and dedication on the same day. Oh Well! I will be at Middlefaire and stay until probably about three or four and then haul ass to Sherwood for that event.

The following Saturday I will be unable to attend Middlefaire due to a graduation of a member of my close extended family and following that a long conversation with a lady whom I knew over forty years ago and have made contact with again after all these years.

Now that Faire season is about to start and the overhaul is in its last stages I may have more time to post here. I really have wanted to do more but I have been so covered up it has been nigh on impossible.

Chronicler and Master of the Web - Sherwood Forest faire

I have had a very busy time of late and am just now (I think) able to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I was asked to take over the Sherwood Forest Website and had to totally re-engineer it from the ground up so it would display in 100% of the computers on earth, it will now do that. Between that and processing photos,which is not finished as yet, it has been a blur.
Sherwood Forest is off to a running start with construction on the grounds going on every day. There have been several gatherings out there and the last one was awesome to say the least but I nodded out early and missed the late night fun. However my daughter took my camera and took pic's of me with my head on my chest asleep in a chair but I have not put those up yet. The generic photos from Sherwood will go on their site and the party pic's will go on my site.
So much for a small update! This weekend at the Dog & Duck is the AARG gathering here in Austin and I wish that more people would subscribe to this to spread the word but oh well!

Mick McCoy and I went out to the Faire grounds Saturday and I took a few shots of the progress that has been made. Construction of the front gates has been started and it looks like all of the wall/palisade along the front of the grounds is built as well. The roads have improved a lot as well since more base material has been put down and leveled out. There is even more firewood cut and stacked as well but there is a lot more to cut still.

Mick concurred with me in my opinion that it is going to be a beautiful place when it opens and I am excited having a Faire here close to Austin and central in Texas as well. The opportunities are going to be awesome for Faire as well as the Faire community.

The trees are beginning to leave out but shade will not be a problem as there are enough pine trees that there is shade everywhere anyway.

man I hate this time of year! Three weeks until Scarby and it is a total dead zone! I am awaiting the results of one bid for a computer for a Doctors office and am about to try for a bid on a whole system for another as soon as I can find out the specific requirements. Y'all just remember that I build and repair computers out there and if ya need help give me a call or send an email.
The new mother board for Wolfies dead box came in yesterday and I will start on it today and see if I can get him up and running again.
Enough of a rant for today! My big truck is in the shop so I am off today and probably tomorrow as well and rain on top of all that! YECH!

Well I made it to Sherwood but a lot later than I intended to. Got ready to leave yesterday morn and the computer I had just finished building lost the Raid Array again. Well my daddy always said there was more than one way to skin a cat so I hit it from a different direction and had it reloaded by about 4 pm and beat feet!

I took my camera but didn't even take it out of the car. We stood around the fire singing and having a good time until about midnight and I went and crashed. I did however drive around the site and look before it got dark though and a great deal of work has been done since my last visit. Stages are going up and the pads are formed up for the drink (Beer) stands and it looked like the ticket booth at the front gate as well. The fences are going up to all over the place, it is starting to take shape.

I will return again some weekend with my camera and no beer to get updated photos.

After a month of 40 hr or less weeks and the stress built up from that I need  some serious stress relief and tomorrow I am going to get it!  Although it may upset some I will not be at the Dog and Duck tomorrow night but at The Sherwood Forest Faire Grounds and very possibly drunk on my ass!
I began my stress relief today on my way home by stopping and having the first decent meal I have had in a month and washing it down with three 1554's and then getting two big bottles of Guinness extra stout  at my fav  convience store on the way home as well. Right now I have a very good buzz going! :-) SURPRISE!  My roommate supplemented my inebreation by showing up withn some Kirin Ichiban to help me on  my way. We will stop and have luncjh with her majesty Bonnie queen of everything before arriving at SFRR grounds.
Anyway I will be at Sherwood Forest on the morrow and having a good time and not worrying about having toderive back into Austin! I really hope that you wll come out and have a good time!

There has been someone spreading the word that CTRF is closed! I would like to find out who personally to correct  their misconception. CTRF is OPEN and will be open one more weekend. Next weekend is Pirate weekend so come on down. No there are not a lot of vendors but there is good food and it is BYOB which I personally get off on as its a lot cheaper to bring yer own booze than buy it at Faire. So pack yer bloody ice chest and get yer arse in gear and come and party! Arrrrrrrrrrrrrgggghhhhhhhh!

Today would have marked thirty years of marriage for Sharon and myself. I miss her so much and it seems like each year it gets harder. Cassie is now twenty-one and a big girl who doesn't really need dad so much anymore and it is hard. January 8th past marked the 7th anniversary of her passing.

This weekend marks the Second Annual Feast of the Kingdom of Onondaga! Tis a wonderful gathering held outside of Houston TX at the Keep of Sir Marcus again this year. Good Food, Good Friends and Good Brew! What more could one want? There will be photos next week!

Next weekend is the opening of the Faire Season in Texas with CTRF being the first. It is a small faire on the second Excalibur site at dale TX outside of Lockhart TX. The site is primitive and secluded but I persoanlly have a lot of fond memories from that place. Unfortunately I will not be able to attend as it is also the weekend of the Kingdom of Onondaga court feast and as I am Wizard to the Kingdom of Onondaga my presence there is of the most importance. Hey I am not passing up free food! However I will be at CTRF for second weekend and will take way to many photos, I love digital photography!

There is a new Renaissance Festival under construction in central Texas near a small town called Paige TX. One hundred ten acres of absolutely gorgeous property, loblolly pines, hardwood trees and sandy soil (NO BLACK MUD!). I was out there last week for the open house but it was thirty nine degrees and windy and if not for the furnished anti freeze we would have froze! I returned this week under sunny skies and pleasant temps and shoot a new sequence of pic's that give a much better view of the site. When it opens it will look a lot like most Robin Hood movies with the impression of an English game park more than anything else. There is a spring fed lake on the grounds that stays full year round and we are in the midst of a drought here right now. I discovered a small sheltered pool below a fall down in the future adult section that was neat as well. Anyway here are the photos from my exploration of the new Sherwood Forest faire grounds and as construction progresses I will post more.
